yesterday when i was talking to ilya he told me that our beloved destination for hanging out at the weekend, cozy "novus"-bar, closed the doors. that's maybe a good explanation, why everonye who was the during the last days was wondering that it was closed. he also told me that one reason could be the new "mod"-club, which is runned by the same owner, but a few times bigger than old novus. so it seems once again, that in this post-soviet country everbody is thinking just about the money. i mean, the bar was so crowded everytime i've been there, there's no reason to close it. but bigger accommodation means bigger money. a bavarian could say now: pfui däubel! but because i'm definitely no bavarian i just say: crazy russia.
i will never understand what's going on in this country.

sorry, riki. seems you'll never have the chance again to show us your analogy with marilyn.
oh, and by the way, a novuM for this site: politics.
have you heard what's happening to the media in this country? gazprommedia is going to buy the newspaper "komsomolskaya pravda", a yellow-press gazeta and simultaneously the biggest russian newspaper. this means, gazprommedia will be involved in 90% (!!!) of all newspapers in russia. in exactly one year there will be parliamentary elections followed by the presidential elections in march 2008.
question: does the democratic opposition have even the glimpse of a chance to win in such a fatal situation, where the state controls all important tv-stations and directly or indirectly 90% of newspapers?
do the math.
i'm out. when i read such news, i got sick.
ps: a statement from the spbtimes to the novus-closing you can find
