the new year

ladies and gentleman,
there's gonna be a vecherinka at my place on 31st! with this prikolnoje russian-style flyer i'm inviting everybody to come and ottjanutsa with us! there will be some german "bowle" and russian vodka, other drinks you have to bring yourselves. what else? oh, hanno had the idea of preparing russian dishes - if everybody brings something there will be enough for all of us!
at 00.00 we'll watch the fireworks in front of hermitage and then...let's see!

bring your friends and see you then,

Hi my dears!
As you already know, I `m leaving tomorrow and frankly speaking, I am a bit nervous because of my flight! But what I wanted to say is that this semester was a big experience for me and even if some days were quite hard, I am very happy about my decision to study in Piter! Of course it would have not been the same without of you! So, I want to thank you for all the nice and funny and interesting hours we spent together. Wish you all the best! - Franziska (waiting for you in Salzburg)

Sönke is InDaHouse!

Last night EdiK, Ninja, Hanno, Ilja, Riki and myself watched the movie "Deutschland - ein Sommermärchen", a documentary about the german football team during the worldcup this summer. It was was the last movie of the german film festival, which took place at Dom Kino from 8.-17. december.
The director of the movie, Sönke Wortmann, was also present an talked a little to the audience about the filming process. We were even able to get the guy to pose for a picture with us. Everybody be envious!

german film festival

hey guys,
flori gave me a hint that there will be a german film festival at the rodina cinema! it starts tomorrow and will end the 17th of december. entrance is 50 rubels with studencheskaya.
there will be quite good german films and as ilya told me, most of them will be showed twice: once in german and once with subtitles or russian translations. some directors will be there as well as for example sönke wortmann!!! i think i will watch almost every movie because most of them should be really good! rodina is really getting better and better =)

sad news followed by even sadder ones...

yesterday when i was talking to ilya he told me that our beloved destination for hanging out at the weekend, cozy "novus"-bar, closed the doors. that's maybe a good explanation, why everonye who was the during the last days was wondering that it was closed. he also told me that one reason could be the new "mod"-club, which is runned by the same owner, but a few times bigger than old novus. so it seems once again, that in this post-soviet country everbody is thinking just about the money. i mean, the bar was so crowded everytime i've been there, there's no reason to close it. but bigger accommodation means bigger money. a bavarian could say now: pfui däubel! but because i'm definitely no bavarian i just say: crazy russia.
i will never understand what's going on in this country.

sorry, riki. seems you'll never have the chance again to show us your analogy with marilyn.

oh, and by the way, a novuM for this site: politics.

have you heard what's happening to the media in this country? gazprommedia is going to buy the newspaper "komsomolskaya pravda", a yellow-press gazeta and simultaneously the biggest russian newspaper. this means, gazprommedia will be involved in 90% (!!!) of all newspapers in russia. in exactly one year there will be parliamentary elections followed by the presidential elections in march 2008.
question: does the democratic opposition have even the glimpse of a chance to win in such a fatal situation, where the state controls all important tv-stations and directly or indirectly 90% of newspapers?
do the math.
i'm out. when i read such news, i got sick.

ps: a statement from the spbtimes to the novus-closing you can find HERE

dver`zakryt!

today finally i had my desaster i was waiting for since the first day of my staying here...
those people, who know where and how i live, propably remember that there is one door from the stairwalk of this house into a small floor followed by another door which leads into our flat. when i stood up today, which was about 1 o'clock (shame on me!), one of the czech girls wanted to go outside, and because the other girl already was somewhere in the city and had taken the key with her, i had to lock the stairwalk-door behind the girl. this happened maybe 15 minutes after i stood up and so i still wore only my boxers and slippers, while locking the door. in this certain moment it became a little bit windy, maybe someone else opened the door in the house, so that the door to my flat closed and excluded me halfnaked. wow. what an amazing feeling, standing like that, nothing but wait. of course i searched all the floor for some keys, but: nada. i asked some neighbours, but they even do not know each other, like in former soviet times. after 30 minutes i was wondering if i would ever enter this goddamn flat again but suddenly ljösha showed up with his keys, and for me, hungry, cold, not-showered-edik he looked more than an angel like a human being.
so what do we learn from this story? don't leave your keys IN your flat, NEVER!
;-)
ed.the door on the left side locked itself while i was locking the door in the background on the picture...

ghost metro station!

yesterday riki, carina & me were shopping at the "grand canyon" shopping mall.
i found nice new shoes and riki a nice new coat, so were are ready for winter in town!

the mall is located at northern end of the blue metro line, so we had much time to fantasise about hidden and secret metro stations, why there is no crossing of "our" green line with the yellow one at ermitage, why at ermitage there is no station at all, and which is the deepest metrostation of the city...

right now i wanted to find out at least the last point, but wikipedia russia soon shocked me with the information, that indeed there is a hidden crossing of the lines at ermitage! wow!

my previous comment made Riki just FURIOUS - so she made me eat all 3 pieces + every gram of sugar powder + took pictures as a punishment! :/

oh, what a revenge :)!

Last Week on 8th Street...

Since there was a very important Seminar last week, about "Justice and stuff" with people from Passau University, there were lots of reasons to do some important afterwork activities such as hanging around. This includes the Schevthschenko-Freeriders Ricki, Kseni, Kari and Hanni (not in the Picture!!) who feast on чипсы-- jep!
P.S. Ksenia and Karina! : your ShakyPics did not make it onto my Blog for you are just too happy and your skin is yet too tense--- :)

this picture illustrates sweet hanno, wishing (us?) something, while xenia, surprise, surprise, is smiling.

Back to school

Yeah,

After two great weeks abroad I’m really happy to be back in spb again. Even if Helsinki was sweet, Bremen was wonderful and Moscow was amazing I had already a feeling of “coming home” when I entered my beloved moika-area with the finally renovated pushkin-museum next to my house. Especially after the “moloch”-city of Moscow I was glad to walk through those nice and not frightening but beautiful streets of piter. And of course I missed some of you guys, hanging here around with me and having a great time.

Oh, and for those of you, who don’t know Swedish gorgeous electroriotgrrrls “the sounds” – try to get some songs from them, they’re amazing and the most russiansounding European band I’ve ever heard! So kitschy, but damn catchy! Listen and s.h.a.k.e.y.o.u.r.a.s.s!

Tere means the same as annyung - who first works that hard combination out - will get a price!!! ;)

yah. dorogiye moi ... so strange - no people on the streets, barely cars - stopping before zebra, fresh air, no lines no crosses ... where am i?
give me back my dirty marshrutkas, my portion of CO2, my holey road in front of obshezhitije and let me enjoy this line and dont make me pay that fast in a grocery store.

neeh - i yet do like this chaos in St-Petersburg...

oki-doki. granny is calling to try her just made apple pie :P

tsau,

Когда будет-тогда будет!

Just wanted to pass my COngraTulations to all Shevchenko family members - regarding the inition of new Remont in our showers!!!

When are we gonna have them back? The brilliant answer strengthening my hope was: "whenever will be - will be".

Also did want to warn about bloody morning as few people know about this reform and will create a furious line tomorrow!

sincerely,

-ksenia.

home is where your heart is...

nice and calm city of bremen, i'm coming!

Hey mates,

Tonight I’m gonna leave you for awhile…so enjoy the time without my silly jokes and pesto!

On the one hand I’m really glad to go home for a week; to see all my friends over there; to see my girlfriend when we’re a couple exactly for one year (that will be tomorrow…yeaih!), to play my guitar and hang around in our 40m² kitchen! Great things to do in the nice city of Bremen! For the others here I’m going to take some pictures, so that you’ll know, where and how I live. But on the other hand I’ll miss Petersburg and you guys here…I mean, we know each other just 2 months, but it’s really great to have the possibility to hang around with you that much here! What a pleasure! And I’m sure, that when I return there are more queues to wait together in and new trips to go and much more to learn about this funny folks living here!

So, if you need something from germoney, let me know and I’ll try to bring it! Xenia, of course, will get the best pesto from town! ;-)

See you soon and write down what you’ve done the whole time without me,

edik

SPASIBA, HANNO, for a warm welcome!
